Danger Management
With all processes in the NBP system, it has to be made sure that at no time passengers are in danger and that material damage is avoided as far as possible.
To this end, a specific danger management is being developed. It will also provide for sites of a breakdown or an accident to be cleared speedily and broken-down vehicles removed from the track. Automatic emergency calls and telematics services like those already employed in road traffic bring an extra measure of safety and shorten waiting times in case of accidents. Planning and coordination of construction sites have to be optimised.
With railroad traffic there is more need for action than with road traffic as the number of passing points is limited by the track guidance. Because the RailCabs are fully automated, fixed guidelines can be set; safety can be guaranteed and instructions are carried out.
It remains to be determined which disturbances can be eliminated automatically and integrated into the control of the RailCabs. To this end the concept of condition monitoring is applied and proposals for the technical equipment of the individual components are made. In case of defects which cannot be repaired automatically it remains to be clarified which procedure would least obstruct the vehicles running behind.
